In 2026, Smart City Day will evolve into Swiss Smart City & Smart Citizen Day (S3C2 Day): a new national platform bringing together cities and municipalities in French- and German-speaking Switzerland to address the major challenges of tomorrow. Climate change, mobility, energy, urban transformation, citizen participation, governance, data, and quality of life: public authorities must now make complex, rapid, and transformative decisions. S3C2 Day aims to create a concrete space where communities can learn from each other, share their experiences, and collaboratively develop solutions tailored to the Swiss context. The event is based on three core pillars:
-
Innovation: Presenting concrete solutions and inspiring projects from Swiss cities and towns.
-
Participation: Putting residents and their needs at the heart of the discussions.
-
Co-creation: Fostering exchanges between local authorities, businesses, specialists, academia, and citizens.
On November 16, 2026, these discussions will converge in Biel/Bienne, a bilingual city and natural bridge between French-speaking and German-speaking Switzerland, for a national day combining strategic vision, political debates, feedback from experience, and concrete demonstrations. A city truly becomes smart when innovation tangibly improves the lives of those who live there.
For each topic, a representative from a public administration, a representative from the private sector, and a specialist will speak. Each person will present one aspect of the topic, followed by a roundtable discussion with the audience.
Simultaneous French/German interpretation will be available.

Swiss Smart City & Smart Citizen Day 2026,
Let's build the Switzerland of tomorrow together,
one city at a time.

A tailor-made event for the Smart City ecosystem in Switzerland
Each year, the Smart City Day brings together decision-makers from municipalities and cantons, economic and academic circles. The success achieved since its creation in 2014 has made it a benchmark event in Switzerland.

The objective is to support and build together the municipalities and cities of tomorrow.
